Files on a record
Every record’s page has a Files tab (?tab=files in the URL).
Upload a file
Section titled “Upload a file”Any of these uploads immediately — there is no separate Save:
- Click Upload and pick a file.
- Drag files from your desktop onto the tab.
- Paste: click the dashed box, then Ctrl/Cmd+V (or right-click → Paste). A pasted screenshot is named
screenshot-<date>-<time>.pngfor you.
Limits are set by the platform operator and stated by the picker: a per-file size cap and up to 10 files per record. Documents and images are accepted; executables, archives, and video are not. A refused file shows the server’s reason and nothing uploads.
An attachment dragged straight out of Gmail or Outlook does not upload — browsers never hand the file over. The tab tells you to save the attachment to your computer first, then drop that.
Open and download
Section titled “Open and download”Click an image or PDF’s name to open it in a new tab. A Word, Excel, or PowerPoint name downloads the file (browsers cannot render Office files). The Download icon on every row saves any file.
Delete
Section titled “Delete”The trash icon asks you to confirm with the file’s name.
Who can do what
Section titled “Who can do what”Uploading and deleting need edit permission on the record; viewing and downloading need only read. A file uploaded by a teammate who has since been removed shows “(removed user)” — the file stays with the record.
